- Patris sapientia,
veritas divina,
Deus homo captus est
hora matutina:
A notis discipulis
cito derelictus,
A judaeis traditus,
venditus et afflictus.
Adoramus te Christe et benedicimus tibi.
Quia per crucem tuam redemisti mundum.
Hora prima ductus est
Jesus ad Pilatum:
Falsis testimoniis
multum accusatum,
Colaphis percutiunt
manibus ligatum,
Vultum dei conspuunt
lumen caeli gratum. - Notes
The first two strophes of the hymn from the Horae Sanctae Crucis (Hours of the Holy Cross) interspersed with the versicle 'Adoramus te Christe'. The Horae Sanctae Crucis have been attributed to Giles of Rome, OSA (Egidio Colonna, c.1243-1316).
